Shop owner holding a pack of wool for knitting

Hi, I'm Kirsty...

...and I am the founder of Stitch kit. I am so excited to introduce you to my passion for anything stitchy.

My dad taught me to knit when I was a young girl and his passion is very much for creating beautiful tapestry designs from family photographs. I get my creative flare from his side of the family.

My Dad’s sisters are both very artistic, one of them taught art and dressmaking at a high school and is now an amazing fine watercolour artist and the other was a textile tutor at a top University.

I am a nurse by trade but in my spare time I always loved to craft. I suppose, for me, it was my saviour when life got a bit stressful.

For the majority of my adult life I have worked with adults with learning differences and I’m always looking for new ways to help them to get creative.
Three years ago, I opened a yarn shop and Tearoom in my home city of Worcester.

The main purpose was to establish a destination for the people I support to continue with their creativity but also to engage with others in the community.

Three years on and covid hits us hard. I found myself pottering around Worcester dropping products off on people’s doorsteps to keep them busy during lockdown and then it hit me! Time to make some changes and explore the world of on-line! Despite not being particularly tech savvy I embarked upon getting all our stock on-line and also started to provide my workshops on-line too.

With all this uncertainty I realised I may have to make some more permanent changes and this is how Stitch Kit was formed.

I am so happy to be doing what I love to do & I hope you enjoy getting your stitch kits from us and that they inspire you to enjoy making beautiful items for your family, friends or just for yourself.

Love Kirsty
